Reality: Restricting water intake does not meaningfully reduce edema and can lead to dehydration, which stresses the kidneys and may actually worsen fluid retention as the body compensates. Adequate hydration is important—discuss your specific fluid targets with your physician.

Myth: All herbal teas are safe diuretics that can replace medication. Reality: Some herbal preparations (dandelion tea, for example) have mild diuretic properties, but they cannot replicate the therapeutic precision of a prescribed medication.
